Funding for people the industry keeps missing
Tuition should not be the reason a capable person stays out of this industry. We set aside a number of partial-tuition awards in every cohort, decided by circumstance rather than by who writes the best essay.
Awards
What we offer
Four categories. You can apply for more than one, and we will consider you for whichever fits best rather than making you guess.
Career Changer Award
For people moving into tech from an unrelated field, where tuition is the thing standing between them and the switch. Covers a portion of tuition on any programme.
Access Award
For applicants from groups under-represented in engineering, including women, and applicants who would be the first in their family to work in tech.
Service Award
For veterans, reservists and people leaving public service roles. We are not approved for GI Bill benefits, so this is our own funding, not a federal benefit.
Hardship Award
For applicants facing a specific financial barrier, including recent job loss, caring responsibilities or a sudden change in circumstances. Assessed case by case.
How to apply
Four steps
The whole process runs alongside your programme application and finishes before you have to commit any money beyond the deposit.
Step one
Apply to the programme first
Scholarships are only assessed for applicants who have been admitted. Choose your programme and cohort and complete the standard application.
Step two
Email us within seven days
Send us your name, the cohort you applied to, which award you are applying for, and up to 500 words on your situation and what the programme would change. No essay competition, no formatting rules.
Step three
A short conversation
For hardship and service awards we may ask a few follow-up questions on a call. We ask for the minimum evidence needed and we do not keep documents longer than the decision requires.
Step four
A decision before the deadline
You get a written decision before your cohort decision deadline, so you know your real cost before you have to commit to a payment plan or lose your deposit.

How awards work
The parts people usually have to email to find out.
- What is covered
- Awards reduce tuition by a percentage of the programme price. They are applied to your balance, not paid to you as cash, and they cannot be transferred or exchanged.
- How it works with your deposit
- You still pay a seat deposit to hold your place. The award is applied to the balance you owe after the deposit, and your deposit is still credited toward tuition in full.
- Combining with payment plans
- An award can be combined with paying in full or with an instalment plan. If you pay in full, the pay-in-full discount applies to the reduced balance.
- How many are available
- A fixed number per cohort. When a cohort is fully allocated we say so on this page rather than quietly rejecting applications.
- If you are not awarded
- Your programme application is unaffected. Scholarship decisions are made separately and being declined for funding never counts against your admission.
- Withdrawing
- If you withdraw from a programme, the award is removed and your refund is calculated against the tuition you actually paid. The award has no cash value.
