Mentorship
A working engineer in your corner, every week
Video lessons are easy to find and easy to abandon. What changes the outcome is someone who reads your code, knows your goal and expects you on Thursday. Every Upkora learner gets one.

What you get
What a mentor actually does
Mentorship at Upkora is not a monthly pep talk. It is technical, specific and tied to the work you are producing that week.
Code review that goes deeper
Your mentor reads your actual work and tells you why something is fragile, not just that it fails a test. This is where most of the learning happens.
Unblocking, fast
Stuck on an architecture decision or an error you cannot place? Bring it to your session instead of losing a weekend to it.
A plan that fits your life
Most of our learners study around a job or caring responsibilities. Your mentor helps you set a pace you can actually hold for the length of the programme.
Career conversations
CV review, portfolio framing, salary expectations and mock interviews with someone who has sat on the other side of the table.
Between-session access
Async questions in your cohort channel during the week, so a blocker on Tuesday does not wait until Friday.
A second opinion
If your mentor is not the right person for a question, they will introduce you to someone in the network who is.
How it works
From matched to hired
Pairing happens before your first lesson, so you are never waiting on a match while the cohort moves ahead without you.
Before your cohort starts
We learn what you actually need
Your application tells us your background, your target role and how much time you have each week. That is what we match on, not just the track you picked.
Week one
You meet your mentor
A working engineer in the field you are moving into. You agree a standing weekly slot, what you want out of the programme, and how you will both know it is working.
Every week
You show up with real work
Sessions are built around what you are building right now. Bring the branch, the failing deploy, the design you are unsure about. Unprepared sessions waste both your time.
Halfway
We check the pairing honestly
If the match is not working, tell us and we will move you. No awkwardness, no penalty. A mentor you dread meeting is worse than no mentor.
Final weeks
The focus shifts to hiring
Portfolio, interview practice, and how to talk about the projects you built. Mentorship continues through your job search, not just to the last lesson.
Who mentors
Practitioners, not career instructors
Every mentor is currently working in the field they mentor in. They have shipped the thing they are teaching you to ship, recently, at a real company with real constraints. They are paid for their time, which is why they treat the commitment seriously.
We interview mentors for the same two things every time: can they explain a hard idea without making the other person feel small, and will they say when an approach is wrong. Technical depth is the easy part to check. Those two are not.
Ready to stop learning alone?
Pick a programme and a cohort, and we will match you with a mentor before the first session.
