Our story

Built by people who learned it the hard way

Upkora exists because the gap between finishing a course and being employable was never a knowledge gap. It was everything the courses left out.

Why we started

The gap nobody was closing

There has never been more free material for learning to code, and it has never been harder to go from learning to hired. People finish a 40-hour course, open a job description, and find that almost none of what it asks for was covered. Not because the course was wrong, but because it taught syntax when the job needs judgement.

The people who make it across usually had something the material did not give them. Someone senior reading their code. A deadline they could not quietly abandon. A project with enough mess in it to be worth talking about in an interview. That is not talent, and it is not access to a computer science degree. It is structure, and it can be designed.

So we built the thing we needed: live cohorts on a fixed schedule, taught by engineers still doing the work, with one mentor per learner and projects that behave like real systems. Then we set the tuition where a working adult can reach it, and put the whole price on the website.

What we believe

The principles behind the programmes

Six positions that decide how every programme gets designed and what we refuse to do.

You learn by building things that break

Every programme is built around work you ship, not lectures you watch. Debugging your own deploy at 11pm teaches more than any slide about deployment ever will.

Someone has to be expecting you

Self-paced courses have completion rates in the single digits, and it is not because the videos are bad. Live cohorts and a named mentor are the difference between starting and finishing.

Teachers should still be practitioners

Our instructors work in the field they teach. Not five years ago, now. Tooling moves too fast for anyone who left the job to stay useful for long.

The price should be the price

One tuition figure per programme, published on the site. Your deposit is credited to your tuition, not an extra fee. If instalments cost more, we say by how much before you agree.

Publish the method, not just the win

Any provider can find a number that flatters it. We published how we count outcomes before we had results to report, so the definitions could not be tuned to fit them.

People arrive from everywhere

Career changers, self-taught developers, people already in tech going deeper, people fitting study around a job and a family. The programme has to work around that, not the other way round.

Where we are

Honest about our stage

We are early, and we would rather you know that than find out later.

A young academy, deliberately small

Our first cohorts are running now. We do not yet have graduate outcome figures that clear our own reporting window, and we will not publish one until we do. We are keeping cohorts small while we get the teaching right, which means seats go quickly and some programmes are still in draft. What we can show you today is the curriculum, the instructors, the full price and the refund terms. Judge us on those.

Have a look at the work

Read a curriculum, look at who teaches it, then decide whether it is worth your time. That is the order we would want it in too.
